Installing .bin extensioned file in ubuntu
# Open the Terminal.
# Locate the folder where the application resides.
# IN terminal write :
sudo chmod a+x ApplicationName.bin
./ApplicationName.bin
Follow the onscreen instructions....
You are done.....

Developing J2ME Application on ubuntu 9.04
First Install JDK:
To install jdk, open terminal and type those commands
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk
OR,
Application---> Add/Remove application
'Show:ALL available application
Search 'JAVA' Tick and apply
Downlaod Netbeans:
Now go to www.netbeans.org and downlaod the full version of the IDE.
After downloading install it....
Thats it your ide is ready for development.
Then create new project and select J2ME and choose option start developing.
A good emulator:
Download WTK for linux from java.sun.com
Install it..
for installing wtk see this guide.[Click Here]
Now U r ready to rock.....

Installing .sh extensioned file in ubuntu 9.04
# First locate the file with terminal....
open terminal from Application -->Accessories --> Terminal....
# Locate the folder in which the .sh file is located
like if this is in desktop write " cd Desktop"
# After locating write following command in Terminal
" sudo sh filename.sh "

Installing canon ip1900 series printer in ubuntu 9.04
Install ur printer in some simple steps....
step 1:
download the driver package from canon web site. [Click here]
put ur downloaded package in home folder.
step 2:
After finished download, open terminal and write the following command
Now install the cnijfilter deb packages which have already u extracted. Just write the following commands in terminal.
step 4:
Now write the following command on the terminal
if u want to check whether its installed successfully or not, just write the follwing command in terminal,

step 4:
Now write the following command on the terminal
sudo apt-get install libcupsys2u r done now...... Just plug ur printer power it on and wait for a while. System will detect ur printer and a settings box will appear where u can configure ur printing settings.
if u want to check whether its installed successfully or not, just write the follwing command in terminal,
sudo ldd /usr/bin/cifip1900if u get the following type output, u can be sure that it is installed success fully... :D... enjoy printing in ubuntu 9.04.

Start Terminal…
write ” sudo chown -R USERGROUP:USERNAME /FOLDER LOCATION ”
here, USERGROUP will be repalced by your user group….
USERNAME will be replaced by your username….
FOLDER LOCATION will be replaced by the folder you want to own..

START AND STOP PARAMETERS for XAMPP on UBUNTU 9.04
Parameter | Description |
start | Starts XAMPP. |
stop | Stops XAMPP. |
restart | Stops and starts XAMPP. |
startapache | Starts only the Apache. |
startssl | Starts the Apache SSL support. This command activates the SSL support permanently, e.g. if you restarts XAMPP in the future SSL will stay activated. |
startmysql | Starts only the MySQL database. |
startftp | Starts the ProFTPD server. Via FTP you can upload files for your web server (user "nobody", password "lampp"). This command activates the ProFTPD permanently, e.g. if you restarts XAMPP in the future FTP will stay activated. |
stopapache | Stops the Apache. |
stopssl | Stops the Apache SSL support. This command deactivates the SSL support permanently, e.g. if you restarts XAMPP in the future SSL will stay deactivated. |

Installing XAMPP on Ubuntu 9.04
Install XAMPP on ur ubuntu just in follwing simple steps....
Step 1: Download the installation package
At first download the package. Click here to download.
Step 2: Installing
1. Open the terminal [1. Open The terminal [Application-->Accessories-->Terminal]
2. Write the quoted code or copy and paste it in terminal [without the "" symbols]
"sudo tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.7.1.tar.gz -C /opt"
when prompted give ur sudo password.
now xampp is installed on ur machine in opt folder.
Step 3:Start
Now start the xampp .
to start xampp just write the following code in terminal [without "" symbols]
"sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start"
Step 4:Test
To test the xampp, just open any browser and in the browser's address bar
just write "http://localhost"

To change your current or existing MAC address in ubuntu 9.04 just follow the follwing steps.... hope yours will be changed..

"sudo gedit /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh"
give sudo password when prompted.
3. A file will be opened. In that file after the last line write the following codes or paste it.
killall dhclient
killall dhclient3
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 hw ether 001CC019A888
ifconfig eth0 up
/sbin/dhclient
/sbin/dhclient3
4. Now save the file and restart your machine.

How to install Cisco packet tracer 5 in Ubuntu linux 9.04
U can install cisco packet tracer in ubuntu 9.04 now. For this all y have to do is to follow the following steps and u r done.
1. Download the packet tracer 5 from cisco site if u r student there [ The generic tar.gz format ] But if u r not a student then download it from here.

And keep the downloaded file in desktop.
2. Open the terminal and write
"sudo
Name: Packet Tracer 5
Command: packettracer
Comment: CISCO networking
Yes Now u r done......

Select "Run in Terminal" option.
4. Now follow the on screen instructions.......
U r half done now.... :)
After this installation u can run this from the terminal.
To run this open the terminal and type "packettracer"
[without the quotation mark]
U can now see the cisco packet tracer running.
if u do not want to do this thing every time, then lets make a launcher ....
to make a launcher,
>> go to desktop.
>>Right click and select "create a launcher"
>> Insert the following values in to its fields.
Type : ApplicationName: Packet Tracer 5
Command: packettracer
Comment: CISCO networking
